Emma Jean Violanti, 89, of Grove, Oklahoma, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, died Friday, September 16, 2011, in Integris Grove General Hospital.

A graduate of Russell High School in Russell, Kentucky, she was born January 8, 1922, in Russell, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Lawrence I. and Lois E. (Cameron) Walker, Sr. She married Leonard Joseph Violanti, who preceded her in death in 1969, on June 18, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia. A daughter, Christina E. Violanti, and a brother, Lawrence I. Walker, Jr., also preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving children, Sandy Violanti Gardner, Grove, Oklahoma, and Lynda (Vaughn) Ralston, Monroe, Michigan; three grandchildren, Nicholas Len McLaughlin, Scott Joseph McLaughlin and Ashley E. Schluter, one nephew, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Jean was a homemaker and worked part-time for many years as a caterer, beautician, costume maker for the Richardson, Texas Children's Theater and dog sitter. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, bowling, crossword puzzles, sewing, crocheting, reading and camping with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Lee's Grand Lake Resort in Grove, Oklahoma.
