Obituary for Beulah Evelyn Chewey (Cunningham)

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma, 918-253-3222. Beulah Evelyn Chewey, 79 of Eucha, Oklahoma passed from this life to her Heavenly Home on February 8, 2019 in Joplin, Missouri.

Beulah was born on November 28, 1939 in Delaware County, Oklahoma to William Ray and Cora Belle (Williams) Cunningham. She married the love of her life, Franklin Chewey on May 15, 1961 in Miami, Oklahoma, and together they raised eight children.
Beulah worked as a Head Start teacher for a number of years until she retired, then she took on her favorite role as “Grandma Beulah”. She was an instrumental part in a lot of peoples lives in the Jay area. Beulah enjoyed spending time with her family taking care of her grandkids and great grandkids. Beulah was a born again Christian, and read her Bible ever night before she went to bed. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and taking care of chickens and her dogs.
Beulah was preceded in death by her husband Franklin Chewey, her parents; William Ray and Cora Belle Cunningham, Brothers; Alva Cunningham, Buck Cunningham, Roy Cunningham, JD Cunningham, William Dude Cunningham, Eugene Cunningham and R.B. Cunningham, sisters; Nellie Duncan and Sylvia Buzzard.
She is survived by her children; Cora Jo Myers of Eucha, Oklahoma, Franklin Chewey, Jr. of Eucha, Oklahoma, Ronny Chewey and wife Sandi of Jay, Okahoma, Jeniece and husband Buddy Kinser of Jane Missouri, Bobby Chewey and wife Shelly of Grove, Oklahoma, Rodney Chewey and wife Melissa of Seligman, Missouri, Tambra Huddleston and husband Sam of Zena, Oklahoma and Tawni Tyner and husband Ralph of Eucha, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth “Shorty” Cunningham of Seligman, Missouri, 27 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8pm, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Jay Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Jay. Beulah will be laid to rest in the Hillside Cemetery in Eucha, Oklahoma.
