Obituary for Effie Lou Cowles

Effie Lou Cowles, 83 of Big Cabin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2019. Effie was born in Coweta on November 2, 1935 to Luther and Gladys (Wilkinson) Keel. On December 13, 1958 she was united in marriage to Ernest Cowles. Effie was the owner/operator of EE Sewing for numerous years. Effie was a very crafty person and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking, trying new recipes, gardening, and canning. She was an avid coffee drinker, enjoyed traveling, and loved to be generous to others in anonymous ways. She was a member of the Big Cabin First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children: James Cowles of Muskogee and Luke Cowles and wife Cheryl of Bartlesville, siblings: Estel Bates, Gary Keel, Tim Keel, and Carol Walkup, and grandchildren: Sarah Sorenson, Annie Cowles, Dolly Trickey, Jayci Cowles, Trey Cowles, Eric Cowles, Jay Cowles, Ethan Cowles, and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Cowles, son Harley Cowles, and brother Lowell Keel.

Memorials may be sent to the Baptist Children’s Home in Owasso. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Big Cabin with Pastor Colby Sorenson officiating. Interment will follow at Big Cabin Cemetery.
