Obituary for Alpha Marie Stookey (Plumlee)
Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma, 918-786-2261. Alpha Marie Stookey, 90, resident of the Grove Nursing Center, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2019.
Alpha was born on June 22, 1928 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was to the daughter of Jefferson Plumlee and Alta (Thomas) Plumlee. Alpha was raised in Chelsea, where she received her education. She was united in marriage to Claude Stookey on August 23, 1946, in Independence Kansas. Claude and Alpha made their home in Chelsea until they moved to Bartlesville in 1954. Alpha was a homemaker and worked at Vandevers Department store for 25 years until the store closed.
Alpha was a wonderful mother and a devout Christian. She loved and enjoyed spending time with all her grandchildren. She was a member of the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Alpha is preceded in death by her husband Claude Stookey, her parents and two brothers. She is survived by Merle Stookey and wife Cheryl of Afton, Oklahoma, Ernest Gene Stookey of Nowata and Debbie Estes and husband Ron of Afton, Oklahoma. Alpha has seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
