James was born on July 17, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. He was the son of James William Cummings, Sr, and Gladys Mae (Desocher) Cummings. James graduated from Culver City High school in 1956. He proudly served in the United States Marines from 61-63, earning the rank of Lance Corporal. He was united in marriage to Willa Smith in Los Angeles California in 1961. James worked as a Telephone Lineman for the General Telephone Company. James enjoyed fishing and gardening.
James was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of the home, four children; Tracy Roldan of Exeter, CA, Steven Cummings of Clovis, CA, Daniel Cummings of Jay, OK and Joey Werner of Booneville, AR. He was blessed with eight grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.
