Darnell Richard Curtis, 75, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his residence in Nowata. He was born June 19, 1943 in Nowata, OK to James Larnell Curtis and Loyce (Owens) Curtis. Darnell attended Nowata High school. On Jan 23, 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a General in Fort Hamilton, New York where he served his country until he was Honorable discharged on January 19, 1966. He returned to the Nowata area where he married the love of his life, Margaret Peace, on July 16, 1966. He worked as a maintenance worker for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He could fix almost anything and was an outstanding man. Darnell had a passion for collectible cars, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Darnell is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peace) Curtis of the home; two sister Neicy Mcghee and husband David of Omaha, Nebraska and Bernetta Ranee Burton and husband Dave of Omaha, Nebraska; one son, Brian Curtis and wife Rhonda of Nowata, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Dante Hill, Alexis Smith, Trenton Smith, Calli Smith, Brooke Smith; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Darnell is preceded in death by his parents, James Larnell Curtis and Loyce (Owens) Curtis.

Darnell will be missed by all who knew him.
