Shirley Mae Smith, 83 year old Big Cabin resident, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. Shirley was born in Deer Creek, Oklahoma on September 28, 1934 to Frederick and Florence (Hargrave) Boling. She graduated from Big Cabin High School in 1952. She then married her high school sweetheart John Edward Smith and together raised one son. Shirley enjoyed oil painting, buying and selling at flea markets, and was a charter member of Utopia Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Jack Smith and wife Mary Mosby of Big Cabin and one brother Fred Boling and wife Wilma of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Lorraine Boling, and brother Donald Boling.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Utopia Baptist Church with Pastor Freddy Griffin and Rev. Roger Miller officiating.
