Obituary for Janet Charlene Chick (Murray)

Benjamin Funeral Service Nowata, Oklahoma 918-273-2700 Janet Charlene Chick was born on May 12, 1944 in Amarillo, Texas. She was the daughter of VD Murray and Hazel (Risner) Murray. The family moved to Dumas, Texas where she received her education until she left school to take care of her mother.
Janet and Donald Charles Chick were united in marriage at Dumas, Texas on April 20, 1968 where they lived, raising their children until they retired in 1997 and moved to Nowata, Oklahoma where they bought a farm. They moved to Bartlesville in 2004 and Donald preceded her in death that year.
Janet and Richard Johnson were united in marriage in Bartlesville in 2014 where they have remained, living in retirement. Janet loved playing the piano and wrote many poems and songs including the song, “The Greatest Treasure”. She also loved to cook and her grandson, Dalton, said that he would surely miss her pancakes. Another of her favorite pastimes was playing the board game Wahoo for hours with her grandson Daniel. Janet was a Christian and loved playing the piano at her church, New Life Assembly.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Johnson, of the home; her sons, Doug Chick and his wife, Miranda and Darin Chick and his wife, Newaza; grandchildren, Daniel Chick, Justin Hudson, Dalton Chick and Derek Chick; a brother, Larry Murray and a sister, Regina Hester and her husband, Bill; and many other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vd and Hazel; first husband, Donald; and a brother, Tommy Murray.
