Obituary for Alice Marie Surratt (Gordon)

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Alice Marie Surratt passed away peacefully in her home on March 8, 2018.

She was born on December 9, 1923, to Nova Lucille Gordon and William Gordon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Surratt. Alice spent 35 years working at the First National Bank of Oklahoma City, OK as an executive secretary. For many years she also worked with her mother and step-father preparing financial statements of Oklahoma municipalities for numerous bond dealers and banks in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa area. She was a member of the American Business Women's’ Association for many years. She was also a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church for many years. Alice was an avid square dancer, belonging to several square dance clubs in Oklahoma City and she continued dancing well into her 60’s. Alice and Bill were married July 31, 1982 in Edmond, OK and were happily married until Bill’s death on April 11, 1998. During the early years of their marriage, Alice and Bill enjoyed fishing and spent many vacations in Broken Bow, OK at the lake. Alice loved animals and had numerous pets through the years, often taking in strays that wandered up to her door. She was also a bird watcher and loved to watch the birds eating at her feeders. She loved gardening and spent many happy hours working in her yard, tending her vegetable garden and many flower beds. Alice moved to Grove, OK in 2009 to be near her youngest daughter, Janet and son-in-law, David.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Jerre Neel and husband, Ray, of Tulsa; Janet Ross and husband, David, of Grove; four grandchildren, Carrie Brown and, husband, Rob of Bixby, OK; Regan Sarten and husband, Eric, of Lubbock, TX; Cameron Riley of Midland, TX; Rick Neel and wife, Tonia, of Tulsa, OK; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by her half-sister, Elaine Owen of Choctaw, OK.

Gravesides services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Pastor Eric Bryan officiating.
