Obituary for Carmen Renea McFarland

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261.Carmen Renea McFarland, 61 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior after battling a long illness on February 5, 2018 in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Carmen was born on January 2, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the loving daughter of Louis and Beverly (Trail) McFarland. Carmen was a graduate of Grove High School; she had earned her post masters degree and was only 15 hours from receiving her doctorate degree. During college, she was a member of the Baptist Student Union, and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma. At one time, Carmen was a Dorm Mother for NEO A&M College in Miami; and also worked for the Bank of Oklahoma Travelers Insurance Company. Carmen was a devoted teacher of science and music, working both for Turkey Ford and Grove Public Schools for a total of twenty years. Carmen was named “Teacher of the Year” in 1999. Carmen also privately taught piano lessons for over 20 years before her health deteriorated. Carmen was a devoted and dedicated member of Grove’s First Baptist Church, her work in the church was her greatest work of all.

Carmen is now reunited in heaven with her parents; Louis and Beverly McFarland. She leaves behind her brother Greg McFarland and his wife Cindy of Bella Vista, AR, her Uncle Lee McFarland and his wife Sandy of Hollister, MO, her Aunt Jeanie Moore of Mountain Home, AR. She was blessed with six nieces and nephews Melissa (and her four children), Rustin, Sam, Natalie, Marshall and Lane, and numerous cousins. She will also be dearly missed by her special and dear friends Robin Hill and Laura Lewis.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Grove’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Paslay and Pastor Gary Bishop officiating.
